#152: We Are Earth with Manju Kumar

“The soil is a living thing..it’s the womb of the earth and when you care for the soil..you increase the life in the soil.” -Manju Kumar

Manju Kumar comes from a line of farmers and it has been within her all her life to become one herself. She has now been a farmer for 30 years and cares deeply about growing food as nature intended, taking care of Mother Nature and being an ambassador for the earth. I invited her to speak with me for the Earth Day mini-series for 2021 and I am so grateful to have met her and learned from her.

In this episode of Veggie Doctor Radio, I have a conversation with Manju Kumar about farming, zero waste and how the cycle of life is vital to our soil.

We discuss:

  • How she became a farmer and why she is so passionate about it

  • The definition of permaculture

  • Why the soil is a living thing

  • What zero waste means to her

  • How the average person can start reducing waste in their lives

  • Tips for those who are new to growing their own food

  • The mistakes that people make wen they start growing plants

  • What we can do to start to decrease food waste

  • Her wildest dream for the world

  • What she wishes more people knew

  • The personal habit she is most proud of
