#133: How Batch Cooking and Food Prep Can Revolutionize Your Life with Tami Kramer

“I wish people knew that our lifestyle choices and habits have a huge impact on our health and quality of life.” -Tami Kramer

When Tami’s doctor told her that her rising LDL cholesterol and potential need for statin medication was simply genetics, she refused to accept it as fact. Unfortunately, both of her parents have high cholesterol and her father also has Type 2 Diabetes and Alzheimer’s, however, Tami had an intuitive feeling that her diet and lifestyle might have something to do with her rising LDL. Slowly she began learning more about the power of diet and lifestyle, discovered plant-based nutrition and has completely transformed her life. Now her husband and three children (as well as three grandchildren!) are plant-based and Tami spends a lot of time teaching others how to live a plant-based lifestyle.

In this episode of Veggie Doctor Radio, we talk all about batch cooking, food prep and how to get more bang for your buck from your time in the kitchen.

We discuss:

  • Her plant-based journey and why she thinks she is comfortable going against the grain

  • Why and when she started batch cooking and what she has learned from years of experience

  • Her exact routine and how she fits grocery shopping and batch cooking into her schedule

  • How long she recommends people try batch cooking and food prep before they throw in the towel

  • How to store food so that it lasts longer and you have less food waste

  • What foods are good to freeze and how to use your freezer more effectively

  • Her essential kitchen tools and a few others that she loves

  • What she eats every single day and has for the past 7 years!

  • What personal habit she is most proud of

  • What she wishes more people knew
